STY Proposed to Get Honorary Title of Indonesian Citizen

Mataram, Beritasatu.com – Indonesian National Team coach Shin Tae-yong (STY) is proposed to receive the title of honorary citizen of Indonesia because he is considered to have made football history because the Indonesian U-23 National Team entered the semifinals at the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup in Qatar and now has the opportunity to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Participating for the first time in the U23 Asian Cup, Indonesia is now attracting world attention. The U-23 national team qualified for the semifinals after defeating the Asian football giant, South Korea.

The Indonesian national team now has the opportunity to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics by pocketing a ticket playoffs and will face Guinea, one of Africa's representative countries. In fact, if the Indonesian national team is able to qualify for the final of the U-23 Asian Cup, then Indonesia will automatically qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the highest achievement that has never been achieved before since Indonesia's independence.

In the history of football, the title of honorary citizen was received by Guus Hiddink from the Netherlands from the South Korean government for his achievements in bringing South Korea to third place in the 2002 World Cup.
