SWAMP THING – LONG IS ONE OF THE MOST ANTICIPATED OF THE NEW PHASE OF THE DCU, After the announcement of the first chapter of the new DCU , fans were excited about the first Swamp Thing film , one of the most important characters of the publisher. Even receiving its own series in 2019, the adaptation did not succeed, and it ended up being the target of several criticisms from fans.

However, the feature released by James Gunn and Peter Safran should be different, as it will adapt one of the biggest stages of Swamp Thing, commanded by Alan Moore.

Swamp Thing is one of DC’s most important characters.

Swamp Thing ‘s first appearance was in House of Secrets #92, released in 1971 by DC Comics . After that, the character ended up participating in several comics , earning his own HQ and being one of the great successes of the late 1970s.

However, in the early 1980s, the comic was almost canceled and Alana Moore was given the opportunity to “re-create” the character. In the writer’s plot, the character did not appear after a chemical accident, but being a being with mental and physical connections with plants, thus giving him a broader interpretation.

The comic with Alan Moore was a tremendous success, giving more prominence to the already discontinued Vertigo imprint of DC.

What can we expect from the character’s film?

According to James Gunn himself, as you can see here , the new Swamp Thing movie will bring Alan Moore’s phase to theaters. Even not defining in which arc we will see the character, rumors point out that the feature will be the gateway to the adult DC line in theaters, which were published by the Vertigo and DC Black Label labels.

According to projections, the character’s new film will arrive at the end of Gods and Monsters , name of the first chapter of the new DCU.
