This US Presidential Candidate Plans to Put the State Budget on Blockchain

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – US presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr has announced his plans to put the entire US budget on blockchain if he is elected President of the United States.

During a campaign rally at the Royal Oak Music Theater in Michigan on April 21, Kennedy Jr. said he would use the entire US budget for blockchain. He says with blockchain, every American can see every budget item in the entire budget, whenever they want, 24 hours a day.

“We will get 300 million eyes in our budget, and if someone spends USD 16,000 on a toilet seat, everyone will know about it,” said Kennedy, quoted from Bitcoin.com, Sunday (26/4/2024).

Kennedy often stated his commitment to transparency. Catherine Fitts, former Assistant Secretary for Housing and U.S. Federal Housing Commissioner at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), said in January Kennedy took transparency to a whole new level.

This pro-bitcoin presidential candidate also views BTC as part of the central bank's money printing machine. Stating bitcoin is a hard currency he emphasized the importance of making cryptocurrency available to the American public.

“Transactional freedom is as important as freedom of speech and you only get that from Bitcoin,” he opined.

Kennedy also repeatedly said crypto equals freedom. In March, he stated cryptocurrencies is the best hedge against inflation. He also emphasized that crypto takes control away from governments and monopoly banking systems.

Despite being pro-crypto, Kennedy has also warned about central bank digital currencies (CBDC). According to him, CBDC will allow the government to supervise all personal financial affairs.

“Central banks will have the power to impose dollar limits on our transactions that limit where you can send money, where you can spend it, and when it expires,” he concluded.
