15 Basketball Players Selected to Enter Indonesia Patriots Undergo Training in Lithuania

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – A total of 15 players were selected to be part of the Indonesia Patriots national team which will undergo training camp (TC) in Lithuania.

The 15 selected players became part of the Indonesian Patriots national basketball team after going through a selection process carried out by PP Perbasi (Indonesian Basketball Association) and Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LTU Basketball) at GOR CLS Dharmahusada and GOR CLS Kertajaya, Surabaya, from 3 -March 6, 2024.

“Physically, the height of the players in this group is very sufficient. “With time and proper honing of their skills, they will be able to become significant players,” said LTU Basketball Secretary General Mindaugas Balciunas.

“Overall, we are very happy with what we saw. With these young players selected, we are confident that Indonesia can become a strong team that plays very well in Asia,” he added.

The selection process was carried out starting from a talent search for 100 young basketball players from 11 cities throughout Indonesia starting from Jakarta, Tangerang, Makassar, Cirebon, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Denpasar, Palembang and Manado.

This process is open to Indonesian male basketball players aged 13–18 years who have a minimum height of 180 cm.

LTU Basketball was represented by coach Marius Kiltinavicius and Valdemaras Chomicius, a legendary basketball player who was the former captain of the Lithuanian basketball team that won a bronze medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

“With this collaboration between PP Perbasi and LTU Basketball, I am sure that Indonesia will get useful results, namely by gaining knowledge and excellence in the field of basketball that Lithuania has,” said Lithuanian Deputy Honorary Consul-General in Indonesia Gianita Kadarisman.

“I hope that the high standards applied by LTU Basketball in basketball training in Lithuania can be an inspiration for Indonesian basketball players to improve their skills so they can play better,” added Gianita.

Currently, PP Perbasi is finalizing training plans in Lithuania including the departure schedule, program duration and Indonesia Patriots school schedule.

“Perbasi has been thinking from the start about how you can continue going to school. Please wait for the next invitation. “We are coordinating with the Ministry of Education and Culture and will talk to the principals of each of your schools,” said PP Perbasi General Chairperson Danny Kosasih.
