Advertising Expert Says Elon Musk’s Policy To Limit Twitter Can Disrupt New CEO Steps
Todaysgist.com, Jakarta – Elon Musk’s move to temporarily limit the number of tweets that can be read by Twitter users could damage the efforts of the new Twitter CEO, Linda Yaccarino, to attract advertisers on his platform. This was said by a marketing industry expert.
Earlier, Elon Musk announced on Saturday that Twitter would limit how many tweets per day users can read. This was done by Elon Musk to prevent extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation.
The advertising expert’s words are proven, because there are users who upload them screenshots in reply, indicating that they can’t see any tweets, including tweets on the company’s advertiser page, after reaching the limit set by Elon Musk.
To quote Reuters, Tuesday (3/7/2023), Yaccarino has been working to repair Twitter’s relationship with advertisers who pulled out of the platform, after being acquired by Musk last year.
Mike Proulx, director of advertising research at Forrester, said Twitter’s restrictions were disastrous for both users and advertisers who had previously been reeling from the chaos Elon Musk brought to the platform.
“The advertiser confidence deficit that Linda Yaccarino needs to make back is getting bigger, and it can’t be made back based solely on her industry credibility,” said Mike Proulx.
Meanwhile, Lou Paskalis, founder of advertising consultancy AJL Advisory and former chief marketing officer at Bank of America, said, “Yaccarino is Musk’s last best hope to save advertising revenue and company value.”
