Meta Wants to Make Facebook an Application Store After New Regulations from the European Union

On the other hand, Meta, in recent weeks it has been known that it is developing a new application that is said to be a competitor to Twitter. Named Threads, this application will be under the auspices of Instagram.

Although it is not yet known when it will be released, developer Alessandro Paluzzi found that the Threads application has already appeared on the Google Play Store. Citing information from The VergesMonday (2/7/2023), Alessandro also shared information and screenshots of the application.

Through uploads on Twitter, he shares a number of interface display elements from the application. One of them is the login page of this application which allows users to register through their Instagram account.

While other pictures show users can also follow accounts they have followed on Instagram. Then, another image shows the interactions that can be carried out in this Thread application.

From screenshots it is very visible that Threads has an appearance similar to Twitter. The difference, the icons like likes, comment, repostuntil share more like Instagram.

Information about the number of replies or likes received in a thread is also displayed. However, the latest information states that Threads can no longer be found on the Google Play Store, so information regarding the Thread application still needs to wait for further announcements.

For information, it is known that Meta has been developing this application since January 2023. Known as Project 92, Meta admits that this new application is indeed present as a competitor to Elon Musk’s social media platform, namely Twitter.

“We’ve heard from creators and public figures interested in having a platform that runs fairly, can be trusted and relied on,” said Meta’s Chief Product Officer Chris Cox when discussing this application.

He said, a number of famous names in the world have also given their commitment to use the new application made by Meta. The names of some of the celebrities are DJ Slime, to Oprah and the Dalai Lama.
