AMSI Meets Press Council, Questions Continuation of Publisher Rights Regulations in Indonesia

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The Indonesian Cyber ​​Media Association (AMSI) met with the Press Council, Tuesday (11/7/2023). In this meeting, AMSI questioned the development of the “Publisher Rights” regulation which has been eagerly awaited by the Indonesian cyber media.

The reason is that so far, without clear regulations, cyber media tend not to get incentives from their news or content taken by digital platforms.

The chairman of AMSI, Wenseslaus Manggut, stated the need to issue a Publisher Rights regulation immediately. This needs to be done so as not to create a perception that the government is more in favor of digital platforms than the sustainability of cyber media, which number more than 45 thousand.

“Actually, it’s not a secret anymore. We all follow the developments and the process of compiling “Publisher Rights”. Why are we asking updates-his? Because the development is very fast. Wens added, ahead of the 2024 election, the media is expected to take on a role as a filter for hoax and disinformation information, but there are fears that it will produce more content that has the potential to go viral and click bait in order to chase traffic, because there are no regulations guaranteeing publishers’ rights.
