Berenguer was able to intercept a pass from Aleix Garcia, to score and give Bilbao the lead in the second minute. Girona was only one goal behind at the end of the first half, even though hosts Bilbao created many threatening opportunities.

After the first half break, Girona appeared to kick off with Ivan Martin's cross which made the score 1-1 in the 49th minute.

Berenguer put the hosts ahead again with his second goal in the 56th minute, and his partner Inaki Williams increased Bilbao's lead four minutes later.

Williams almost scored a fourth goal after the visitors made another mistake five minutes later, but Girona goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga was lucky to make a save on the goal line with his feet.

Eric Garcia brought Girona back to life, after scoring from close range from Aleix Garcia's free kick. The position did not change 3-2 in favor of hosts Bilbao who successfully secured their seventh consecutive win at home.

“It's not easy to beat Girona. “This is something to be proud of,” Inaki Williams told DAZN.
