Arriving Early, Bagas/Fikri Optimistic on European Tour

Chambly, Beritasatu.com – Men's doubles badminton players Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri are looking at the European tour with optimism.

Good preparation by arriving early to France to try out the training camp ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics is one of the reasons.

“We are optimistic that we can still achieve the existing targets. As long as we can maximize our performance by playing well in every match, God willing, we are sure it can be achieved,” said Bagas, Sunday (3/3/2024).

Fikri stated that he was better prepared to face the matches on the European tour.

“Me, Bagas and the team left early for France so it took longer to adjust to the weather and that was good for us. The training atmosphere while in Chambly was very good, we really enjoyed it. This made us better prepared for the matches on the European tour,” added Fikri.

Bagas/Fikri, who are still in the running for tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics, will compete in three consecutive tournaments, namely the French Open (March 5-10), All England (March 12-17) and Swiss Open (March 19-24).

The 2022 All England champion makes physicality the main factor to improve.

“We are all in top condition, we are healthy and ready to compete. Indeed, our preparations were cut short by the match at the Asian Team Championship, but after that we focused on recovering and improving our physical condition before now finalizing our technical side,” said Fikri.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian badminton team left the city of Chambly for Paris this afternoon local time. On Monday (4/3/2024), for the first time, they will try out the 2024 French Open match field which is also the venue for the Olympics, the Adidas Arena.
