Bad news, the new generation iPad Air will use an old technology screen

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Apple will hold a 'Let loose' event on May 7 2024. The plan is that this US company will introduce several iPad lines, including the iPad Air.

Previously, there were rumors that the iPad Air would use a mini-LED screen. Most recently, Apple's new tablet will not use this panel technology.

Panel Analyst Ross Young, as quoted from GizmochinaSunday (28/4/2024), reported that the iPad Air variant still uses an LCD panel like the previous generation iPad Air series.

According to him, the costs for producing mini-LED panels are quite high, so it is likely that Apple will continue to trust LCD panels for use on the iPad Air.

A report from Ross Young also states that Apple will introduce a new iPad model with a mini-LED screen in the fourth quarter of 2024.

However, the exact model for using the mini-LED screen has not yet been determined. The report estimates that the mini-LED panel will be used in the affordable version of the iPad Pro line or the iPad with the new naming model.

For your information, mini-LED panel technology offers richer contrast and truly black areas compared to LCD panels, but the resulting dark colors are not as intense as OLED screens.

Mini-LED can produce better colors by lighting the screen on much smaller LED pixels. Apple first used a mini-LED panel on the 2021 iPad Pro.

It seems that Apple still doesn't want to apply this technology to more iPad lines because of the expensive production costs.
