BATC 2024 Semifinals: Supanida Overthrows Putri KW

Shah Alam, Beritasatu.com – Indonesian women's singles player Putri Kusuma Wardani (KW) lost to Thai badminton player Supanida Katethong in the semifinals of the 2024 Asian Team Badminton Championships (BATC).

Putri KW ran aground from Suphanida in two games 17-21 and 19-21, in the match which took place at the Setia City Convention Center, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, Saturday (17/2/2024).

“I apologize to the team for not being able to contribute points in this first match,” said Putri KW, quoted from PBSI's official statement.

The badminton player ranked 33rd in the world admitted that he had prepared his playing pattern well. But in the middle of the match, he couldn't control the tempo of the game.

“Actually, I have prepared my playing pattern well to face the opponent. Only in the middle of the field I was too slow. Apart from that, games first and foremost games “secondly, I got carried away and followed my opponent's playing pattern,” said Putri KW.

“His type of opponent is more attacking. The opponent is also brave with speculation which makes me uncomfortable. His ball connections always want to keep me away,” he added.

Putri KW admitted that she often made her own mistakes, especially at the end of the match, which resulted in opponents often getting points.

He hopes that his colleagues who will appear in the next match can give their best. “Hopefully the friends who will appear in the second and subsequent matches can perform well. Also play with enthusiasm,” he concluded.
