BRI Liga 1 2023/2024: Thomas Doll Ignores Persija Jakarta’s Good Record for PSM Makassar

Todaysgist.com, Jakarta – Persija Jakarta meets PSM Makassar in the opening week of the BRI League 1 2023/2024. The match took place at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Monday (3/7/2023) at 19.00 WIB.

The Kemayoran Tigers have a good record against Juku Spell. However, Persija Jakarta coach Thomas Doll did not take this record into account.

“I don’t really focus on past statistics. We are in the present and not in the past. Maybe if God is with us, then we can determine whether we win or not,” Doll told his pre-match press conference.

In the last five meetings against PSM Makassar, the Kemayoran Tigers are unbeaten and have won four wins. Even so, Doll thinks his team is not the favorite in the match later.

Because, Persija only has one foreign player who is ready to appear, namely Ryo Matsumura. While PSM is the defending champion.

“Local players are good enough and I hope that can be shown. We still have a chance to win the game against PSM and everyone is ready to give their best,” said the former Borussia Dortmund coach.

“The players are prepared to do a good game. We played against the defending champions, so we are not the favourites. However, playing at our own stadium, we will be supported by rabid fans,” said Doll.
