Brighton vs Man City Results: The Citizen Appears Dominant

Brighton, Beritasatu.com – Manchester City won 4-0 over hosts Brighton, in the English Premier League match, Friday (26/4/2024) early morning WIB. Phil Foden scored two goals that kept City's hopes of winning the league again alive.

This match took place just a day after Liverpool were dealt a huge blow with a 2-0 defeat to Everton. City (76 points) kept the pressure on leaders Arsenal (77) with a dominant display that left them one point behind the London club with a game in hand.

“There are three points. There are five games left, we know the gap is very tight. We have to win everything. With every game, we are getting closer,” City manager Pep Guardiola told Sky Sports.

He added that the fight for the league title is still a three-team race.

In that match, City took the lead through Kevin De Bruyne's header in the 17th minute. However, City lost top scorer Erling Haaland due to injury.

Foden scored his first goal via a free kick. The English midfielder's second goal was scored in the 34th minute after a mistake in Brighton's defense allowed Bernardo Silva to control the ball and feed Foden to fire into the bottom corner before the break.

Foden is now the third player to score 50 goals in the league under Pep Guardiola, after Lionel Messi and Haaland.

Julian Alvarez ensured City's victory midway through the second half, 62nd minute.

This result keeps Brighton in 11th place in the standings.
