Carabao Cup Final Against Chelsea, Liverpool Lost 11 Main Players

London, Beritasatu.com – Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is threatened with losing 11 mainstay players in the upcoming Carabao Cup Final match against Chelsea kick-off at 22.30 WIB at Wembley Stadium, London, Sunday (25/2/2024).

The Reds managed to advance to the Carabao Cup Final after winning over Fulham 3-2 on aggregate in the semifinals.

Klopp has won seven major trophies during his time at Anfield and will look to add more trophies before leaving the club at the end of this season. The Reds have the opportunity to win another new trophy in this Carabao Cup Final.

However, facing Chelsea could dash Liverpool's hopes of lifting their first cup of the season, though The Blues ever defeated The Reds in the final of the same competition in 2022.

Liverpool also had to face several key players who were absent due to injury. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones and Alisson Becker have been ruled out for the final and several other players are questionable due to fitness issues.

Here are some Liverpool players who are doubtful for appearing:

First, Mohamed Salah is doubtful for the final against Chelsea due to fitness problems. Salah missed the win over Luton Town with a muscle injury which kept him out for several games.

Second, Diogo Jota is absent for the immediate future due to a knee injury he suffered against Brentford. The Portugal international missed the win over Luton and is not expected to play against Chelsea.

Third, Curtis Jones is also sidelined with an ankle injury. Jones was substituted in the first half of the win over Brentford due to injury and as a result he missed the win over Luton.

Fourth, Darwin Nunez is doubtful to appear. Klopp said after the win over Brentford, Nunez felt something that caused him striker absent against Luton Town.

Fifth, Trent Alexander-Arnold is recovering from the knee injury he suffered against Burnley earlier this month. This right-back first suffered an injury against Arsenal in the FA Cup on January 7.

Sixth, Alisson Becker is another player absent through injury for the final against Chelsea. Alisson has not played for Liverpool since the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on February 4, having missed the last three games through illness or injury.

SeventhDominik Szoboszlai is injured hamstrings since the turn of the year. He first suffered the injury in the new year against Newcastle which caused him to miss several games. He returned to face Chelsea in the Premier League on January 31 but felt discomfort on hamstrings the same one that caused him to be absent again.

Eighth, Thiago Alcantara is currently recovering from injury hamstrings which he suffered when appearing against Arsenal on February 4. The midfielder had just returned after being sidelined for nine months through injury before he featured against the Gunners, but Thiago is currently sidelined again with a muscle injury.

Meanwhile, Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic and Ben Doak have been sidelined for a long time due to injury and no definite time frame has been given for their respective recoveries.
