Commemorating Music Day, Dozens of Students in Kediri Perform Karawitan

Kediri, Beritasatu.com – Commemorating National Music Day, dozens of elementary, middle and high school students performed a musical performance held at Brantas Park, Kediri City, East Java, Saturday (9/3/2024). The musical performance was held to attract people's interest in learning regional arts.

“The aim is to protect Javanese culture which seems to be extinct from Indonesia. So this is introduced to children so that they understand and know each other, and are willing to learn,” said the Kediri City DKD Arts and Culture Committee, Siti Rohani.

Siti is grateful that there is a younger generation who is still willing to learn and be involved in playing the art of musical action amidst the threat of extinction.

The various studios that have begun to emerge and stand up are a positive hope for traditional arts that continue to exist.

According to him, these art studios have begun to mushroom, run by elementary, middle school, high school students and the general public. The performance during the commemoration of National Music Day was a place to show off their performance.

This musical arts performance event, he said, is a series of commemorations of National Music Day organized by the Regional Cultural Council (DKD) of Kediri City.

Apart from musical arts, there are still several activities such as band performances, exhibitions of ancient objects, poetry musicals, musical performances, book reviews, dance exhibitions, poetry readings and theater which last until 21.00 WIB.
