Cyclist Terry Yudha Wins Gold at the 2024 Asia Track Championship in India

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Indonesian cyclist Terry Yudha won the gold medal in the scratch number in the 2024 Asia Track Championship cycling championship in New Delhi, India.

Terry did not experience any significant problems during the competition which took place on Saturday (24/2/2024). He did not expect to be the fastest, and recorded better achievements than previous years.

“This is the third scratch race in the Asia Championship. Previously, in 2022, we got silver, but we didn't get silver in 2023. Thank God, we got it again,” said Terry, Sunday (25/2/2024).

“There were no problems, thank God it went smoothly, I just didn't expect it a little, I had a good moment before the final five laps,” he said.

Terry was the first to finish the scratch race, a 15km race with a mass start at the velodrome. Then, Japanese racer Imamura Shunsuke was in second place, and South Korean cyclist Kim Hyeonseok finished third.

The 2024 Asia Track Championship cycling race is one of the events to collect qualifying points for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Unfortunately, the number that Terry won will not be contested at the 2024 Olympics. However, Terry will compete again in the Madison number to collect Olympic qualification points.

Indonesian cyclist Bernard Benyamin Van Aert will also take part in this event.

“If the competition is all even, everyone is strong, it's just us on the field, what will happen next? If at the moment everything is even, the points are slim, so we can have a chance to enter (the Olympics) and also not get in. It's just us, so the point is it's not safe yet “If you say it's safe yet,” said Terry.

Terry and his friends still have two more chances to collect Olympic qualification points. The two events were held in Hong Kong in early March and in Canada in early April.

“At the moment, just maintain it, because there are only a few months left until April. At least if you can improve your performance, improve it, only if you can survive,” said Terry.
