Indonesia Failed in 2023 Sudirman Cup, Team Manager Apologizes

– Indonesia again failed to bring home the Sudirman Cup trophy after losing 0-3 to China in the quarter-finals. Indonesia last won this team tournament in 1989 or in the inaugural edition which was held in Jakarta.

The team manager, Armand Darmadji apologized to the Indonesian people for this failure.

“Thanks to the players, coaches and support team who fought great today. This defeat, is not the defeat of one player, but the failure of all of us. We apologize to badminton lovers and the Indonesian people for not being able to win and win the Sudirman Cup this year,” said Armand in his statement, Friday (19/5/2023).

He considered the players had fought optimally to the last drop of blood. Armand said the tough task had been carried out, even though he had yet to win.

“In sports, there are usually wins and losses. In sports not everything can end as beautiful and sweet, like in the movies. After this failure, Indonesian players must be able to get up to face the next championships. Heads must remain upright and this failure should not be always a burden,” he said.

“Even though it hasn’t been successful, I as the team manager am still proud. The togetherness and cohesiveness of this team is a positive energy that is very good to continue to maintain. We have to rise up, everyone has to be elated, don’t be discouraged or let down,” he continued.

Everyone has fought tooth and nail on the field according to Armand.

“I’m proud. Thank you for the struggle of the players, coaches and support team. Hopefully in the future, we can win the Sudirman Cup,” he added.
