International Women's Day 2024, Check Out the Top 5 NFT Projects Led by Women

Todaysgist.com, Jakarta – The Web3 industry is all about revolution and change, with the non-fungible token (NFT) space bringing to life some of the most creative projects ever. However, even in the most advanced industries, gender gaps still exist.

Based on data collected in 2023, it shows that men are three times more likely to be NFT collectors than women. Additionally, as of 2021, less than 16% of NFT artists on Nifty Gateway identified as women.

In celebration of International Women's Day, some of the most inspiring women-led NFT projects are highlighted. From taking steps to further diversify the NFT space to simply empowering and representing women around the world, female NFT artists have managed to score some of the most inspiring projects.

Launching Techopedia, Saturday (8/3/2024), here are the top 5 NFT projects initiated by women:

1. World of Women (WoW)

World of Women is perhaps one of the most popular female-led NFT projects today, aiming to build an inclusive Web3 through its collections and community. This project was created by Ayam Karkas and three friends who focus on the mission of bringing women into the spotlight.

Head of communications at WoW, Adélina Arzu Mattera, said that the initial inspiration for the project came from the realization that a similar project was needed in the Web3 startup space. Yam Karkai, artist and co-founder of WoW originally wanted to purchase PFP's profile picture before developing WoW.

But sadly, she found no representation in any projects at the time and experienced firsthand the lack of diversity and inclusion in the space.

“Unable to identify existing options, she set out to create Women's World to make a difference, and to this day, we are on the same mission with a strong team and meaningful community alongside us!” Adélina said.

So far, the initiative has released two NFT collections. First, WoW, which is a collection of 10,000 randomly generated portraits of women, each depicting unique features and characteristics. Then WoW Galaxy, a continuation of the original collection containing 22,000 unique NFTs.

Additionally, WoW also established the WoW Foundation which aims to bring more women and diversity into the NFT space and metaverse. In March 2022, the WoW Foundation partnered with The Sandbox, a leading metaverse game, to help further invest in women in the Web3 industry. Notable celebrities, including Reese Witherspoon and Shonda Rhimes, are supporting the project.
