iPhone Users Immediately Update to iOS 16.6, Apple Patches Important Security Holes

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Apple officially rolls out updates for iPhone and iPad via iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6 updates. This update can also be downloaded by iPhone and iPad users.

Citing information from 9to5mac, Tuesday (25/7/2023), the iOS 16.6 update brings a number of important security fixes. In fact, according to the company, the security holes patched through this update are detected to have been exploited.

According to Apple, there are at least 16 security holes patched through this update, including the kernel, Find My, WebKit, and the Apple Nueral Engine.

To note, the kernel is the core of the iOS code. Hence, this vulnerability has the potential to provide unrestricted access on iPhone devices to third parties.

Given the importance of the update, iPhone and iPad users are advised to download it immediately.

This update is known to apply from iPhone 8 including iPhone X to the latest generation. Just like other updates, see the following way to download iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6 updates

• Open the Settings menu on your iPhone or iPhone
• Select the General option, then Software Update
• When the update appears, all you have to do is select the Download and Install option
• After that, wait for the update process to run automatically before you can use it again

Also keep in mind, this iOS update doesn’t bring any feature updates, so users won’t feel any significant changes. From known information, the size of the iOS 16.6 update is around 500-600MB.

This update was released ahead of the launch of iOS 17 which is scheduled to roll out in September 2023. iOS 17 itself was announced at WWDC 2023.
