Jokowi Inaugurates Indonesia Digital Test House, the Largest Device Testing Center in Southeast Asia

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo has inaugurated the Indonesia Digital Test House (IDTH) as an international standard equipment testing center. It is stated that this testing center is the largest and most complete in Southeast Asia.

According to President Jokowi, IDTH is the new face of the Telecommunication Equipment Testing Center (BBPPT) as the leading digital equipment certification center in the Southeast Asia Region.

“I am grateful that we now have the Indonesia Digital Testing House, an international standard equipment testing center that was previously announced by the Minister of Communication and Information, the largest and most complete in Southeast Asia,” said President Jokowi as quoted by BetweenTuesday (7/5/2024).

Not only inaugurating it, President Jokowi also conducted an inspection of the facility. He said, all rooms and facilities have been equipped with very modern equipment.

With these very modern facilities, the President said, the budget to build IDTH costs around IDR 980 billion.

“So, if the equipment is super sophisticated like that, it's not surprising, because the budget is large. And, I know that testing this device has a very crucial role, all digital devices are tested in this place,” said the President.

Later, the President said, all devices such as laptops, cellphones, digital TVs, handy talky until the radar is tested at IDTH. These devices are tested to ensure security standards, health standards and safety standards for the public who use digital devices.

On that occasion, the President also hoped that IDTH would not only be a certification test site, but would also produce innovation and strengthen the local digital technology ecosystem.

For this reason, the President asked the Ministry of Communication and Information to continue to encourage research and development, including collaborating with universities, startups and MSMEs to encourage research and patents.

In this way, IDTH can support the development of testing and certification of local products so that domestic digital devices can compete.

“Digitalization is the basis for domestic industrial and economic development by placing local producers as kings in their own country,” he said.
