Leo/Daniel defeated Chen Bo Yang/Liu Yi's resistance

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Indonesian men's doubles Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin defeated Chinese duo Chen Bo Yang/Liu Yi 21-14, 21-18 in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Asian Team Badminton Championships (BATC) at Setia City Convention Center, Shah Alam, Selangor, Friday (16/2/2024).

With this victory, Indonesia equalized the score at 2-2.

Previously, Indonesia trailed 0-1 after Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo lost in the first match. Chico surrendered to Hong Yang Weng in two straight games.

In the second match, Bagas/Fikri won in straight sets over Ren Xiang Yu/He Ji Ting 21-19, 21-19. With this victory, Indonesia equalized 1-1 against China.

In the third match, Indonesian men's singles Alwi Farhan was defeated by China's mainstay, Lei Lan Xi 14-21, 10-21.

“Thank God, we were able to get through this match by winning. We were also able to equalize 2-2 against China,” said Leo.

Even though he was 1-2 behind, Daniel admitted that he did not use this as pressure but instead as a challenge.

“We hope that we can control the game when we compete. The pressure is definitely there, but how we can control that pressure is a challenge to win,” said Daniel.

Leo said his team had evaluated the defeat to South Korea in the previous match.

This was shown when meeting China this time. The men's doubles swept the two matches with a win.
