Manchester United Transfer Market in Summer 2023: Who is Anchoring at Old Trafford?

Manchester United have officially signed Mason Mount from Chelsea in a £60 million transfer. This transfer money consists of 55 million pounds plus 5 million pounds in bonuses.

Mason Mount ends his 18 years of “service” with Chelsea. He signed a five-year contract with an option for a one-year extension.

Mason Mount is a pearl for Chelsea. However, the Blues are doing laundry after spending heavily last season which led to a decline in the team’s performance.

Mount has twice been Chelsea’s best player in 2020/2021 and 2021/2022. He also played a key role when Chelsea won the Champions League.

Mason Mount did not deny Erik Ten Hag’s role in his decision to choose MU. These are Mount’s first words after officially leaving Chelsea.

It’s never easy leaving a club where you grow, but Manchester United will present you with a new challenge which is the next phase of my career,” Mount said as quoted by Metro.

Mount also emphasized that he knows MU very well. You see, for many years, he has been an opponent of MU and is now attacking the Red Devils.

“Always against them, I know very well how strong this squad is. I can’t wait to contribute to the team to win trophies,” he said.

“Everyone can judge that the club has made a breakthrough under Erik Ten Hag. I have met the manager and discussed the plan, I can’t wait to start the season and am ready to work hard here,” he added.
