Marselino said Ernando performed extraordinary against Australia

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Marselino Ferdinan, midfielder for the Indonesian U-23 National Team, expressed his appreciation to the goalkeeper, Ernando Ari, who showed an extraordinary performance in the match against Australia at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Doha, on Thursday (18/4/2024).

“I want to thank the entire team, supporters and everyone who has prayed for and supported us. Also, thank Ernando who performed very well in this match,” said Marselino as reported by the official website of the Indonesian Football Association ( PSSI) in Jakarta, Friday (19/4/2023).

In the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup group A match, Indonesia managed to beat Australia with a score of 1-0.

Ernando, who plays for the Persebaya Surabaya club, really looked impressive with several brilliant saves. The 22-year-old goalkeeper also saved Australian striker Mohamed Toure's penalty kick in the first half.

His ability to read the direction of the ball and his positioning succeeded in keeping the Indonesian goal from being conceded. He managed to block a shot from substitute Lachlan Brook just before the end of normal time.

Marselino admitted that Ernando had shown his best abilities which led Indonesia to victory against Australia. This victory also opens up the opportunity for Garuda Muda to advance to the quarter-finals.

Marselino also stated that his team would focus on the match against Jordan on Sunday (21/4/2024). “We will focus on the match against Jordan and are optimistic about achieving the best results,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ernando feels grateful because together with his colleagues they managed to achieve an important victory against Australia. “The key to this victory was the hard work of all the players, and we are grateful for the prayers and support given to us,” he said.

After winning three points from Australia, Indonesia is in second place in the standings, behind Qatar, which leads the standings with six points after beating Jordan 2-1.
