Apart from cases, PopSockets also has the PopGrip product line, which is an eco-friendly grip made from corn flour, canola oil and castor seeds.
PopSockets said it would continue research and development efforts to increase the plant-based percentage of its products.
“At PopSockets we are committed to a sustainable future,” said Barnett. “We are not only focused on product innovation but also on partnerships that offer short and long term solutions for carbon reduction. We look forward to continuing to improve over time, and a key part of our efforts will be the increased use of plant-based ingredients across the entire PopSockets product line. “
Launched in 2014 by then-academic David Barnett, PopSocket is a project on KickStarters.
To date, the company claims to have sold more than 245 million smartphone grips in 75 countries and now has a thriving ecosystem of related products, including cases, wallets, mounts, batteries and chargers.
