Rashford Says He Has Received Inhumane Criticism
Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Manchester United (MU) striker, Marcus Rashford, said the criticism he has received recently is inhumane following people challenging his loyalty to the Old Trafford-based club and his love for the sport of football.
The England international forward has faced challenges this season with just five goals for his club. In fact, in the previous season, he managed to score 30 goals and this was his best achievement with MU.
Rashford has also received criticism for his behavior off the pitch, including spending time in a Belfast nightclub before being absent from training with the Red Devils, nicknamed MU. This annoyed manager Erik ten Hag.
However, in writing in The Players' Tribune, Thursday (29/2/2024), Rashford emphasized his desire to convey his own perspective.
“I can ignore the noise 99% of the time,” he said. “But sometimes, it crosses the line, and I want people to understand who I am as an individual,” said the player who is now 26 years old.
He also admitted that he understands the media “game”. “They didn't actually write about me,” said Rashford.
“Listen, I'm not perfect. “When I make a mistake, I will honestly admit it and state that I need to improve myself,” he said again.
“However, if you question my loyalty to MU, that's when I feel the need to speak out. “It's like people doubt my identity and all the struggles I've gone through as a human being,” said the player who has appeared for the Red Devils since 2015.
Rashford revealed that his family even turned down an offer of money that could have changed everything when he was little, just to wear the MU shirt.
“However, if you question my loyalty to this club, my love for football, and even link it to my family, I only ask that you be more humane,” he said.
He invited MU fans to remain optimistic even though the team is experiencing a difficult season and is far behind in the Premier League standings.
“I promise you, the world has yet to see the best of our potential squad United and these players. “We hope to return to the Champions League, and then prepare for the big international tournament at the end of the season, Euro 2024,” he explained.
“We will return to where we belong. “We have to keep working hard, and that starts with myself,” said Rashford.
