Scores 5 Goals against Luton, Erling Haaland Follows in the Footsteps of the Manchester United Legend

Liputan6.com, Jakarta- Striker Erling Haaland is Manchester City's hero again. In the fifth round of the 2023/2024 FA Cup, Haaland scored five goals against Luton Town so that The Citizens won 6-2 at Kenilworth Road Stadium on Wednesday (28/2/2024) early morning WIB.

Haaland was so dominant when facing Luton. In the first half alone, the former Borussia Dortmund player scored a hat-trick. The first three goals were scored in 40 minutes thanks to assists from attacking midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.

In the second half Haaland added two more goals. This is the second time Haaland has scored five goals in one match with Manchester City. The first happened last year in the Champions League when City played Red Bull Leipzig.

The success of scoring five goals puts Haaland on par with Manchester United legend George Best. Haaland became the first player to score at least five goals in the FA Cup since Best did it in 1970.

Best at that time scored six goals when MU played against Northampton Town in 1970. Haaland also followed in the footsteps of two City legends who were able to score five goals in one FA Cup match, namely Frank Roberts and Bobby Marshall.

Throughout his professional career, Haaland has scored 20 hat-tricks. At City alone, Haaland has scored eight hat-tricks. But this is the first time Haaland has scored a hat-trick in an away match with City.
