SEA Games 2023: Defeated by Thailand, Indonesian Women’s Badminton Team Wins Silver

– The Indonesian women’s badminton team had to settle for winning silver in the 2023 SEA Games after being defeated by Thailand 0-3 in the women’s team final at Morodok Techo National Badminton Hall, Phnom Penh, Thursday (11/5/2023).

In the first match, Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi appeared to be less loose when she faced Lalinrat Chaiwan. The pressure exerted by the opponent also made it difficult for him to develop his game. Komang eventually lost 19-21, 17-21 with a duration of 46 minutes.

“I feel like I can bring out all my abilities. Because even though we are optimistic, I have to admit that the opponent is more senior in terms of the game. My type of play and his type of game come in, I’m the type to attack while he plays the ball drives fast. So what I did, he actually liked it,” said Komang after the match.

Indonesia lost again in the second match after the pair Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahya Pratiwi were defeated by Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Raiwnda Prajongjai. In a match with a duration of 36 minutes, Febriana/Amalia lost 11-12, 15-21

“Disappointed for sure not being able to contribute points for Indonesia. But that’s okay, this is a process for us to learn to be even better,” said Amalia Cahya.

“Today, they are more prepared, they have anticipated our balls. While we have actually anticipated their balls too, many of them are less accurate, so they die alone,” continued Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma.

In the third party, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo has also given his best to help Indonesia gain points. But Esther had to acknowledge Supanida Katethong’s toughness.

In a 39-minute match, Esther lost 11-21, 12-21.

There is still a chance for an Indonesian badminton medal because after that the players will focus on facing individual numbers.
