SEA Games: Bend Malaysia, Indonesia Won Men’s Team Badminton Gold

– Indonesia won the gold medal in the men’s team number badminton after defeating Malaysia, 3-1, in the final at Morodok Techo National Sports Complex, Phnom Penh, Thursday (11/5/2023).

The Red and White team trailed 0-1 after Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo’s first men’s singles surrendered to a player ranked far below him, namely Leong Jun Hao with a score of 16-21, 13-21. Chico, ranked 19th in the world, surrendered to Leong who is now in 64th position after playing 31 minutes.

Indonesia then managed to equalize the score to 1-1 through the men’s doubles. The Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana pair managed to beat the 76th ranked doubles, Beh Chun Meng/Goh Boon Zhe, with a score of 21-12, 22-20. The 2022 All England champion won after struggling, 37 minutes.

The Garuda troops then turned around to lead 2-1 after the third party, Christian Adinata managed to stop Lee Shun Yang’s resistance, 21-17, 21-9. Christian, who is now ranked 59th in the world, defeated the badminton player ranked 95th in 59 minutes.

Indonesia’s certainty of winning gold is determined by double, Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan. The world’s 33rd ranked men’s doubles beat Chia Weijie/Liew Xun. Pramudya/Yeremia lost the first game after giving up 13-21 at the start of the match.
