Short-term contract, senior defender Jonny Evans strengthens MU again

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Senior defender, Jonny Evans, returns to Manchester United after signing a short-term contract.

With the signing of this contract, the former Leicester City defender will be part of the Red Devils’ pre-season tour of Edinburgh, Scotland and San Diego, United States.

“Jonny Evans, who has experience as a defender, has officially signed a short-term contract to be able to participate in Manchester United’s pre-season games in Edinburgh and San Diego,” said an official announcement, Tuesday (18/7/2023).

The 35-year-old defender has been training with the Under-21s and has been involved in a number of training sessions with the first team. Evans’ appearance during the training impressed Manchester United coach, Erik ten Hag, and the coaching staff.

Evans, who has capped 102 times for the Northern Ireland national team, will travel to Edinburgh as part of squad who will face Olympique Lyon at Murrayfield Stadium on Wednesday (19/7) at 20.00 WIB.

After that, Evans will join forces with squad academy who will go to San Diego to fight Wrexham at Snapdragon Stadium on Wednesday (26/7) at 09.30 WIB.

While defending The Reds DevilsEvans has made 198 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing seven assistsas well as winning 10 trophies, including Champions League (2007/2008), Club World Cup (2008), Premier League (2008/2009, 2010/2011, 2012/2013), English League Cup (2008/2009, 2009/2010) , and Community Shield (2008, 2010, 2011).

In August 2015, Evans left Old Trafford to continue his career with West Bromwich Albion for three seasons. He then joined Leicester City in July 2018 and defended the club for five seasons.
