Suchitra Krishnamurthy claims husband Shekhar Kapur cheated on her

In fact, his wife actress-singer Suchitra Krishnamurthy has accused him of being unfaithful. Suchitra has claimed that Shekhar Kapur cheated on her. Let me tell you, Suchitra Krishnamurthy went against her parents and married Shekhar Kapur, 30 years older than her, in 1999. After 12 years of marriage, he divorced her and now in the year 2023, he has accused her of cheating.

Suchitra Krishnamurthy said in an interview that “I feel that marrying Shekhar Kapur was my duty, which I fulfilled. Because when I saw him for the first time, I went crazy. At that time I must have been around 10-12 years old. I had made up my mind that I would either marry Imran Khan (former cricketer and former PM of Pakistan) or Shekhar Kapur.

Luck also accepted me and made me meet Shekhar Kapur. I met him during the casting of a film called Champion. The film could not be made but, the conversation between me and Shekhar started. I fell madly in love with him. But, he was not serious. I threatened him, said- If you do not marry me, I will not even see your face. He agreed and married me.”

Suchitra further said that “My parents were against this marriage. Because Shekhar was my mother’s age at that time and he was divorced. My mother pleaded in front of me. He tried to persuade me not to call this relationship a marriage. But I was haunted by the ghost of Ishka. I didn’t listen to anyone and got married. We hadn’t even been married for a year and cracks were starting to appear between us.

I wanted to divorce him, but then I came to know that I am pregnant. I stayed for my child. But, after some time when the water went above the head, I said, ‘Forget it, now I will not do it’. Shekhar had cheated me. But, my marriage was broken not because of infidelity but because of the constant humiliation I was getting.”
