Tackled by Taiwan’s doubles, Ahsan/Hendra were knocked out of the Canada Open

– Representatives of Indonesia, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan failed to advance to the semifinals of the Canada Open after being defeated by the Taiwanese pair, Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin, Friday (7/7/2023) or Saturday WIB.

Ahsan/Hendra surrendered to the fifth seed 17-21, 13-21. The second seed was knocked out after 30 minutes of fighting.

In the first game, Ahsan/Hendra were left behind from the start of the game. They were never able to equalize until the match in the initial set ended.

Ahsan / Hendra narrowed the gap to only one point at 16-17. However, Lee/Wang, who are also the champions of the 2020 BWF World Tour Finals, were then able to control the game again and finished the first game 21-17.

The second game is also almost the same. Ahsan/Hendra were left behind since the match started and were never able to equalize. Thanks to the five consecutive points achieved, Lee/Wang had won 14-8. They then finished the second game 21-13.

In the semifinals, Lee/Wang will meet the third seeds, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen. This Danish double has the right to appear in the top four after eliminating the Japanese pair, Keiichiro Matsui / Yoshinori Takeuchi, 21-13 and 21-10.

Ahsan / Hendra advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating the Indian pair, Krishna Prasad Garaga / Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala,

Ahsan/Hendra, who were the second seeds in this championship, defeated the world’s 37th ranked pair, 21-9, 21-11. Ahsan/Hendra only needed 24 minutes to stop Garaga/Panjala’s advance.
