Telegram CEO, Pavel Durov Admits to Save Some Bitcoins

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Telegram Founder and CEO, Pavel Durov revealed he holds several bitcoins, the largest crypto by market cap, and Toncoin (TON).

Reporting from CryptoPotato, Friday (21/7/2023), in his post a few days ago, he revealed that although some people suggest he buy a house or a jet, he prefers to invest in his work, without buying anything other than some Bitcoin and Toncoin.

Despite that, Durov did not reveal how much BTC he owns, but he did admit the only real investment he has made in life is Bitcoin itself.

Not only Bitcoin, Durov also invested in Toncoin (TON) which is telegram’s crypto, although now it has changed its name and is called The Open Network (TON), previously called Telegram Open Network.

It should be noted that, unlike other major cryptocurrencies, the price of TON during 2023 has decreased, as it has gone from USD 2.00 or the equivalent of IDR 30,112 (assuming an exchange rate of IDR 15,056 per US dollar) at the beginning of the year to USD 1.4 or the equivalent of IDR 21,078 today.

Telegram Issues IDR 4 Trillion Bonds

Durov also announced his company is issuing Telegram bonds worth USD 270 million or equivalent to IDR 4 trillion this week to fund growth and efforts to break even.

While the CEO made no mention of investors in the bonds, saying instead that they are a “famous fund with a stellar reputation,” the head of Telegram said he bought a quarter of the bonds as a way of investing in the platform’s growth.
