The Android Gmail application will become more sophisticated thanks to Gemini AI, it can summarize emails instantly

Meanwhile, Google has just announced a new fraud detector that will be coming to Android devices later this year.

This detector was introduced at the Google I/O 2024 event. This tool, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology, is said to be able to detect fraud threats directly in the middle of a telephone conversation being made.

Quoted from Engadget, Wednesday (15/5/2024), this AI works by looking for conversation patterns that indicate fraud. Once detected, the user will receive an alert on the cellphone.

It is hoped that this method can overcome fraudulent activities which have recently become more widespread. At the I/O event, Google also demonstrated how this detector works by providing examples of fraud in the name of bank officers.

For example, the fraudulent caller tried to ask for sensitive information, such as a PIN or password. In fact, this request is an unusual thing for bank officers to do.

When AI detects words that are considered fraudulent, this tool will provide a fraud alert to the user. And most importantly, this AI is done on the device, so user privacy is maintained.

However, this feature is still in the testing phase and reportedly will not be present in Android 15. Google said it will provide more details about this feature at the end of 2024.
