Talking about online gambling, the Ministry of Communication and Information (Communication and Informatics) stated that it is working hard to eradicate the spread of online gambling content in Indonesia.

One way to do this is by blocking sites or online gambling content circulating in Indonesia. Based on data from the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, around 846,047 online gambling content has been blocked from 2018 to 19 July 2023.

The blocking is based on findings from the Kominfo cyber patrol team, including reports originating from the public or Ministries/Institutions. Kominfo itself estimates that most online gambling sites come from abroad.

“After we found out, he (online gambling) is usually centered on countries where gambling is regulated. So, they are not a violation in their country,” said the Director General of Informatics Applications for Kominfo Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan in a press conference.

Therefore, the government took preventive action by blocking it. Samuel said, there were several blocking actions such as blocking domains or websites, IP, and applications.

“To complement this, the accounts used (for online gambling) are also blocked, so as to narrow their space to carry out these illegal activities,” he said in Jakarta, Thursday (20/7/2023).
