Unseeded, Marketa Vondrousova Wins Wimbledon 2023

Czech Republic tennis player, Marketa Vondrousova won the 2023 Wimbledon. Present at Wimbledon as an unseeded player, Vondrousova managed to beat sixth seed Ons Jabeur in the final with a score of 6-4, 6-4, and won her first grand slam title.

Vondrousova is the lowest-ranked Wimbledon champion since the introduction of the WTA rankings. He was ranked 42nd.

Compete at The All England Lawn Tennis Club, Wimbledon, London, England, Saturday (15/7/2023), the final round began by exchanging blows, then Jabeur approached the net after hitting backhandher, followed by a punch lob winners the brilliant one from Vondrousova.

In Jabeur’s third grand slam final, he actually seemed to adapt quickly by breaking his opponent’s serve in the opening game. However, Vondrousova’s defence, cunning and ability to keep the ball low down the court provided a different challenge than Jabeur’s previous opponents.

Jabeur looked troubled. As Vondrousova began to vary her shots, take the initiative to attack and consistently put the ball in difficult places, Jabeur began to look frustrated. After leading 4-2, Jabeur dropped four games in a row and handed the first set to Vondrousova.

In the second set, Jabeur managed to break his opponent’s serve twice and lead 3-1. However, Jabeur was unable to maintain his lead. After leading 3-1, Jabeur finally lost with a final score of 6-4 and gave up the title to Vondrousova.
