US Will Ban DJI Drones, What's the Reason?

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The United States is known to have passed a law that allows the government to block TikTok in the country. After this regulation, the US government is reportedly also preparing other regulations which are said to threaten DJI's existence.

Quoting information from The VergeTuesday (30/4/2024), report from The New York Times said that the House of Energy and Commerce Committee had submitted a bill that could potentially ban DJI drones in the United States.

If this Act passes, DJI drones will add to the FCC's list of devices covered by the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act in 2019.

The regulations prohibit communication devices or services that pose a risk to national security from operating on US networks.

Responding to the issue of the existence of this RRU, DJI also stated that the basis of the bill refers to inaccurate accusations and is not based on the company's operations.

Before DJI, other Chinese companies that were already on the FCC list were Huawei and ZTE. For your information, regulations banning drones originating from China have been implemented since 2022.

The emergence of this regulation cannot be separated from the findings of US government agencies which stated that DJI had provided important information in the US to China.

In fact, this is not the first time the US government has taken action against DJI. Earlier in 2020, the US Department of Commerce had put DJI on its Entity List, which prevents US-based companies from exporting their technology to DJI.

In addition, the US Treasury Department added DJI to the list of Chinese Military-Industrial Complex. Reportedly, DJI drones were used to monitor the Uyghur Muslim group in China.

In addition, the US Department of Defense has also blacklisted DJI since 2022.
