With teams from 8 municipalities, the Holy Week Tournament will move the village of Carqueijo – Cidades na Net

The town of Carqueijo, located in the rural area of ​​the municipality of Belém do Piauí, hosts annually, on the Thursday of Holy Week, one of the largest and most traditional amateur football tournaments of this period in the region.

Promoted by the City Hall, through the Department of Culture, Sports and Leisure, the event encourages sports, provides entertainment and leisure to the population, and moves the interior of the municipality, generating income and boosting the local economy.

This year, in its 14th edition, the event will take place on April 28th. The Tournament will be played by teams from eight municipalities – Belém (current champion), Caldeirão Grande, Francisco Macedo, Jaicós, Marcolândia, Massapê, Padre Marcos and Vila Nova.

According to the schedule released by Mayor Ademar Carvalho, the games will start in the morning, at 8 am, and will last until the end of the afternoon, ending with the grand final. Then, the awards ceremony takes place, with the distribution of R$1,500 to the champion and R$900 to the runner-up team, as well as trophies and medals.

At night, the event continues in the tents and throughout the event space, animated by automotive sounds. The organization's expectation is that this year, like previous editions, the Carqueijo Tournament will bring together a large audience, made up of people from the municipality itself and visitors.
