3 Times in a Row to Win SEA Games Gold, National Volleyball Team Ready to Compete in the Asian Games

The Indonesian men’s volleyball team has won gold medals three times in a row at the SEA Games. Now, they are ready to compete in the upcoming Asian Games.

Before winning the 2023 SEA Games, the Indonesian men’s volleyball national team won the 2019 and 2021 SEA Games.

Volleyball national team player Rivan Nurmulki revealed that after being successful at the SEA Games in Cambodia, the next target is to compete at the 2023 Asian Games in China.

“The results are pleasing (winning three gold medals at the SEA Games) even though previously we had won gold medals four times in a row,” said Rivan at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tuesday (10/5/2023) evening.

Rivan said, he and his colleagues were very satisfied because they appeared impressive by beating hosts Cambodia 3-0 in the final. He also praised the performances of young players at the SEA Games, such as Boy Arnes, Agil Angga, Fahri Septian, and also Farhan Halim.

“Thank God, our generation of volleyball is better, it’s good that there are many young players who are more impressive. So our target, together with other friends, is if we can do more than the previous seniors,” he said.

According to Rivan, what needs to be improved in the next event is the preparation of the players so they are not too tight. Because, in the SEA Games Cambodia event the preparation was only about one month.

“What needs to be repaired, in my opinion, is preparation, long term if possible,” he explained.
