SEA Games: Defeat Myanmar 5-0, Indonesia leads Group A standings

– Indonesia won 5-0 over Myanmar in the Group A preliminary match for the 2023 SEA Games football branch, Thursday (4/5/2023).

The goals that brought Indra Sjafri’s troops ahead in the half before the break were scored by Marselino Ferdinan and Ramadhan Sananta (2 goals), Fajar Fathur Rahman and Titan Agung.

Thanks to this victory, Indonesia also leads the Group standings with a perfect six points. In its first match, Indonesia also succeeded in gaining maximum points after defeating the Philippines, 2-0. Meanwhile, Myanmar is still in third place with a collection of two points.

The second position in Group A is occupied by hosts Cambodia with 4 points from 2 matches. In the first match last April 19, Cambodia beat Timor Leste, 4-0. While in his second appearance, last Wednesday (2/4/2023), Keisuke Honda’s team was held to a draw by the Philippines, 1-1.

Facing Myanmar, coach Indra Sjafri brought back a 4-3-3 formation. He fielded the trio Witan Suleaman, Ramadhan Sananta and Fajar Fathur Rachman.

Meanwhile, the midfield was filled with Marselino Ferdinan, Taufany Muslihuddin and Alfreanda Dewangga.

In the 76th minute, Indonesia almost added to the advantage when Beckham Putra fired a shot from close range. But the Persib midfielder’s shot was pushed over by the goalkeeper.

Indonesia also made another chance in the 82nd minute. The substitute, the Great Titan, had confronted the keeper and outwitted him. However, his shot towards goal was blocked by the Myanmar defender.

Titan Agung completed Indonesia’s lead to 5-0 in the 87th minute. The striker for the Bhayangkara FC club received a long-range pass following a counter attack. He then outwitted the Myanmar defender to release a shot that tore into Michael Feichtenbeiner’s team’s goal.

One minute later, Beckham Putra almost brought Indonesia 6-0 ahead. Receiving feedback in front of goal he then kicks off while turning. However, his shot was pushed over by the goalkeeper. The 5-0 score for Indonesia’s advantage lasted until the match was over.
