A Day of Release, Threads Application Has 30 Million Users and 95 Million Uploads

Meanwhile, in the midst of the excitement, Twitter threatened to sue Meta regarding the Threads application that the social media company had just released, Thursday 6 July 2023.

According to a letter addressed to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Twitter lawyer Alex Spiro argued, Meta used Twitter’s trade secrets and intellectual property to create Threads.

Spiro, who is also Elon Musk’s personal attorney, claims that Meta hired dozens of former Twitter employees to develop Threads.

This is considered not too surprising, because after Elon Musk took over Twitter, there were thousands of Twitter employees who were laid off.

As quoted The Verges, Friday (7/7/2023), according to Twitter, many of their former employees still have access to Twitter trademarks and other confidential information.

Twitter also accused Meta of taking advantage of this and assigning former Twitter employees to develop “copycat” applications that violate state and federal laws.

As a result, Twitter threatened to take legal steps both in the form of civil and compensation.

Twitter also demands Meta to take immediate steps to stop using the Twitter trademark or other confidential information. Twitter also doesn’t allow Meta to do data scraping on its platform.
