Instagram Boss Reveals Features That Will Come to Threads: Following Tab to Interaction with Mastodon

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Instagram boss Adam Mosseri revealed that they are working on several features for their new social media, Threads, one of which is a special tab for the accounts users follow.

This was revealed from Mosseri’s reply to YouTuber Marques Brownlee, and photographer Noah Kalina, who asked about this feature. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also uploaded a thumbs up emoji in response to Brownlee.

Mosseri also replied “on the list” or “is in the list” on some feature requests like edit post, options translate to another language, as well as switch between Threads accounts as they already are on Instagram.

Meta also revealed future plans for integrating Threads with ActivityPub, a decentralized social networking protocol that provides a base of services microblogging Mastodon.

The hope, quoted from The VergesFriday (7/7/2023), Threads users will be able to interact with those who use other ActivityPub-based services.

Even so, quoting Tech CrunchAdam Mosseri said that Threads does not yet have support for ActivityPub at release.

“Soon, you’ll be able to follow and interact with people on the platform fediverse others, such as the Mastodons. They can also find people in Threads using username complete, like @mosseri@threads.net,” Mosseri said.

Adam Mosseri acknowledged that the team working on the Threads application had yet to complete support fediverse when this social network was released.
