Ahead of Visiting Persita Headquarters, Persebaya Sharpens Front Line Sharpness

Surabaya, Beritasatu.com – The front line which is still dull is a major concern for squad Persebaya Surabaya. In an effort to hone attacking sharpness, coach Paul Munster provided additional training so that the attacking line could maximize opportunities for goals.

This training is also thorough preparation ahead of the match against Persita Tangerang, Friday (23/2/2024). Tactical training and improving the physical condition of players are carried out as part of preparations before continuing the League 1 competition.

Persebaya Surabaya coach Paul Munster not only focuses on tactical and physical training, but also pays special attention to additional training for players in the attacking position. Strikers such as Paulo Henrique, Wildan Ramdhani, Candra Waskito, Bruno Moreira and Robson Duerte received intensive training in completing opportunities.

Paul Munster revealed that from the evaluation of the last two matches, the front line has not been able to take full advantage of opportunities to score goals. Therefore, with this additional training, it is hoped that the team nicknamed Bajul Ijo can score more goals in each match.

“This is part of my evaluation and way of training. I give these additional training sessions to certain players, especially when they start to get tired,” said Munster at a press conference, Monday (19/2/2024).

“That's when they need to improve their sharpness to score goals. Doing this training the last few days with the strikers has given positive results,” he added.

The coach from Northern Ireland admitted that he deliberately gave the players additional training. He is also directly involved in training sessions, to increase player motivation.

“When I engage directly with the players and they are motivated, they want to do more because this is the moment we need to score goals. One goal is not enough. We need to score more goals. We continue to work hard, and I'm sure we can achieve that as a team,” he added.

In the last two matches against PSIS Semarang and Bhayangkara Presisi, the performance of Persebaya Surabaya's front line came under scrutiny because they failed to take advantage of the many opportunities created. Persebaya was held to a 1-1 draw by PSIS, and only won 1-0 over Bhayangkara, who is now at the bottom of the 2023/2024 Liga 1 standings.
