Frosinone vs Roma Result 0-3, Sardar Azmoun Says Thanks to Jose Mourinho

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Sardar Azmoun was one of AS Roma's goal scorers when they crushed hosts Frosinone 3-0 in the 2023/2024 Italian Serie A League, Sunday (18/2/2024) evening local time or Monday (19/2/2024) early morning WIB .

The player from Iran admitted that he enjoyed Roma playing under coach Daniele De Rossi. However, he still expressed his gratitude to former Roma coach, Jose Mourinho, for all the efforts made by The Special One, Mourinho's nickname, during his two and a half years at the Stadio Olimpico.

“We have to thank Jose for everything he did at Roma. I hope that with the new coach, we will be better,” said Azmoun, quoted from Football Italia.

The 29-year-old forward made his first Serie A start in a 3-0 win over Frosinone. Azmoun scored his second goal in the Italian top caste in the second half, precisely in the 71st minute.

“It was a very difficult match in the first half. However, we tried hard, we changed tactics in the dressing room with the staff, and we played well (in the second half). My job was to score goals and I am very happy,” said Azmoun.

Meanwhile, the other two goals were scored by Dean Huijsen (38') and Leandro Paredes' penalty in the 81st minute. Azmoun also apologized to the Frosinone fans after scoring because his teammate, Dean Huijsen, had annoyed them with his goal celebrations in the first half.

“Maybe they didn't like our first goal from an 18-year-old player. Maybe the players were sad, so I want to apologize for the first goal. Of course, I want to celebrate, but the most important thing is mutual respect in football,” said Azmoun.

“They are our friends. I know it's different on the pitch, but respect is the most important thing in football,” he added.

He also commented on the changes in the Giallorossi's playing style under De Rossi's direction.

“I was everywhere. In the first half, I was behind Romelu (Lukaku) with Tommy (Baldanzi), and in the second half, I was the center forward,” he said.

“When I was little, I was a Roma fan, and I remember big games because in Iran they don't show normal games, they only show big games,” Azmoun said.

“He is very aggressive but with a good heart. He always tries to help and make us happy. I think now we will enjoy it. You see, we are different in the game,” he said.

Azmoun joined Roma on loan from Bayer Leverkusen last summer. The Giallorossi have the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season. The 29-year-old has scored two goals in 17 appearances in all competitions this season.

Roma is in sixth place in the 2023/2024 Serie A standings with a score of 41 points from 25 matches. They are four points behind Atalanta who occupy fourth place in the standings or the final Champions League zone.
