Unwinnable Match

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, continues to appreciate Los Blancos' performance even though they only drew 1-1 against Rayo Vallecano at the Nuevo Estadio de Vallecas Stadium in the 2023/2024 LaLiga continuation, Sunday (18/2/2024).

Ancelotti emphasized that in football, winning or losing is normal. The most important thing is how the team continues to show good performance even though they don't win.

“We have to win all our games, but to win the league, there are games you can't win, but you also can't lose,” Ancelotti said as quoted by AFP.

In the match against Rayo, Madrid took the lead when the game had only been running for three minutes. Joselu shook Vallecano's goal which was guarded by Stole Dimitrievski.

The hosts equalized in the 27th minute after Madrid midfielder, Eduardo Camavinga, made a handball in the forbidden box. Raul de Tomas, who stepped forward as executioner, did his job well.

This draw means they remain at the top of the 2023/2024 Spanish League standings with a score of 62 points. This season Madrid has achieved 19 wins, five draws and one defeat.

“A draw can sometimes feel painful, but it can be a positive step that brings Real Madrid closer to the league title,” added Ancelotti.

The former AC Milan and Chelsea coach also praised the consistency of his team which managed to win 0-1 at home to RB Leipzig in the first leg of the last 16 of the Champions League.

“We started very well, good in possession, we scored goals,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rayo striker De Tomas said that a draw against Real Madrid would provide additional encouragement for the team, which has not won in its last seven matches.

“This series of draws will provide many benefits for us,” said De Tomas, who managed to score a goal against Madrid.

Real Madrid still leads the standings with a difference of six points from Girona in second place, who will play at Athletic Bilbao headquarters, Monday (19/2/2024) evening local time or Tuesday (20/2/2024) early morning WIB.
