Yeosu, Beritasatu.com – Indonesian men’s doubles, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto advanced to the 2023 Korea Open final. Fajar/Rian’s move was confirmed after defeating the host pair, Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae in the semifinals, 17-21, 21-16, 21-18 at Jinnam Stadium, Saturday (22/7/2023).

It took 1 hour and 13 minutes for Fajar/Rian to end this match with a win.

In the first game, the two pairs chase after scoring points. Fajar/Rian had won 12-11 but the score continued to be tight until they were behind 15-16. Several unforced errors left Fajar/Rian behind 15-18 to 17-20. Fajar/Rian closed the first game with a 17-21 loss after Rian’s smash hit the net.

In the second game, Fajar/Rian rose from the start. They immediately step on the gas in the acquisition of points. Up 2-1 shot up to 7-3. However, two consecutive mistakes made Fajar/Rian’s advantage 7-5. Fajar/Rian continued to excel in scoring points, even though they were tightened with a score of 15-14. They widened again with a 17-14 advantage and closed the second game with a 21-16 victory.

In the decisive game, Fajar/Rian were behind 0-2 to 3-8. After that three consecutive points were obtained by Indonesia to close the distance to 7-8. The score was tied 11-11, 13-13 and 14-14. The score continued to be tight until it was again tied at 16-16 and 17-17. Fajar/Rian was able to get two consecutive points to win 19-17 and 20-18. Fajar/Rian closed the decisive game with a 21-18 win after Seung Jae failed to return the ball.

In the final round Fajar/Rian will face the Indian pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, Sunday (23/7/2023).
