Ever Winning, Apriyadi/Fadia Still Beware of the Aimsard Brothers

– Indonesian women’s doubles, Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, are determined to defeat the Thai pair, Benyapa Aimsaard/Nuntakarn Aimsaard, in the last 32 of the Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Wednesday (25/ 4/2023).

Even though they won in their first meeting at the Asian Mixed Team Championships (BAMTC) in February, Apriyadi/Fadia are still wary of the Aimsaard siblings.

“In the first round we met the Aimsaard brothers. So we have to prepare ourselves as well as possible. We have to be from the start, both in terms of mind, strategy and focus,” said Apriyani in a PP PBSI release in Jakarta, Tuesday (25/4/2023) .

Previously, the fifth seed in the women’s doubles number defeated the Aimsaard brothers after struggling in three games in the BAMTC 2023 group phase match which also took place in Dubai.

At that time, Apriyani/Fadia had lost in the first game. But in the end they won with a score of 18-21, 21-16, and 21-14.

The world’s fifth ranked pair admits that Benyapa/Nuntakarn are formidable opponents. However, they remain focused so they can perform their best and go through each game smoothly.

“We don’t want to be grandiose, we just want to show our best in every game,” said Apriyani, who is now 24 years old.

The Malaysia Open 2022 champion pair admits that they have recovered from injury and are determined to give their best in an event that is equivalent to the BWF Super 1000 level tournament.

Obstacles such as the slightly slippery field carpet are considered normal by other players. Apriyani/Fadia only need a little adjustment so they can play optimally in Dubai.

“We prepared well for this championship. We enjoyed all the processes from yesterday’s preparations in Jakarta, then arrived here and have also practiced here twice, everything is okay and we are 100% ready,” said Apriyani, who once won Olympic gold with Greysia Polii .
