PB Perpani Monitors the Potential of Young Athletes Through the 2023 Junior National Championship

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The Executive Board of the Indonesian Archery Association (PB Perpani) continues to strive to produce talented and accomplished young athletes through tournament selection at the 2023 Junior Archery National Championship (Kejurnas).

This event will be held at the Jakarta Japanese Club Ground Sentul which will start until 24 July 2023. The championship competed in three divisions, namely the national division, compoundsAnd recurve for the age category 15 years (U-15) and 18 years (U-18).

Chairman of PB Perpani Arsjad Rasjid explained that holding this year’s Junior Archery National Championship coincided with the momentum of the 70th anniversary of Perpani. Since its establishment on July 12, 1953, this sports federation has become a forum for fostering talents and achievements in Indonesian archery sports.

“This sport has led to Indonesia’s triumph in winning the first medal at the prestigious Olympics in Seoul in 1988. With this spirit of achievement, Perpani continues to encourage Indonesian archery to repeat, even surpassing the golden ink of history,” he emphasized.

According to him, restoring the glory of Indonesian archery must begin by seriously carrying out the breeding and coaching of talented and accomplished archery athletes from an early age. So this Junior Archery National Championship event is part of the nursery and development of tiered achievements from the regions to the national level.

“We hope that through this event, national athletes will emerge who are competitive and ready to compete at the world level later in various multi-events,” he concluded.

The 2023 Junior Archery National Championship was attended by 578 athletes and 153 officials who came from 28 provinces in Indonesia. Of that number, the national division was attended by 130 participants for the U-15 category and 138 participants for the U-18 category.

The compound division is attended by 62 participants for U-15 and 96 participants for U-18. Meanwhile for the recurve division, there were 51 U-15 participants and 101 U-18 athletes.

The number of medals up for grabs at this event was 66 gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. A total of 198 medals were up for grabs from the qualifying round to the elimination round for the individual, team and mixed team categories.
