Alcaraz and Djokovic qualify, these are Wimbledon Men’s Singles Quarter Finalists

– Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic ensured that they will advance to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon 2023. In the last eight, Alcaraz was challenged by Holger Rune while Djokovic met Andrey Rublev.

Alcaraz is writing his own history at the age of 20 years and 72 days, having on Monday (10/7/2023) become the youngest player in a Wimbledon quarter-final since Nick Kyrgios in 2014 (19 years and 70 days).

Alcaraz advanced to the last eight of Wimbledon after beating Matteo Berrettini. The Italian is a worthy opponent for Alcaraz. But Carlito, Alcaraz’s nickname, was able to get up and beat the 27-year-old tennis player, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 and 6-3, in three hours and 5 minutes.

Alcaraz followed in the footsteps of Noval Djokovic who also advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Hubert Hurkacz, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (8-6), 5-7 and 6-4. Djokovic’s match against Hurkacz was postponed because the match had passed the time allowed, namely at 23.00 at night.

In the semifinals, Djokovic will be challenged by Andrey Rublev from Russia. Meanwhile Alcaraz will meet tennis player Holger Rune. Rune stepped into the last eight by beating Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov 3-6, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-4) 6-3.

Daniil Medvedev also won tickets to the quarter-finals, who stopped Jiri Lehecka, who could not continue the match due to injury. In the next round, the Russian will meet Christopher Eubanks.

The other quarter-final match brought together tennis player Jannik Sinner against Russian representative Roman Safiullin. Jannik Sinner progressed after defeating Daniel Elahi Galan of Colombia, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, 6-3. Meanwhile, Roman Safiullin won the last eight tickets after stopping Denis Shapovalov from Canada, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, and 6-3.
