Wimbledon 2023: Djokovic to Quarterfinals, Aldila/Kato Stopped

– Tennis player Novak Djokovic managed to qualify for the quarter-finals after defeating Hubert Hurkacz 7-6 (8-6), 76- (8-6), 5-7 and 6-4 in the round of 16 at Wimbledon 2023, Monday (10/7) /2023).

This victory was special because Djokovic won it in his 100th match at Wimbledon.

This match was supposed to be held on Sunday (9/7/2023) evening but was postponed due to curfew rules. Djokovic was leading 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (8-6), but was then stopped due to showing the 23.00 local time.

In the follow-up match, Hurkacz managed to steal a 7-5 victory in the third set. However, Djokovic who became the second seed managed to win the fourth set, 6-4.

Two hits ace and Hurkacz’s two unreturned serves ensured Djokovic won.

“He has one of the best serves in the world,” said Djokovic praising his opponent after the match.

In other matches, the only Indonesian tennis player to appear in this prestigious event, Aldila Sutjiadi had to be eliminated in the round of 16. Aldilla, who partnered with Japanese tennis player, Miyu Kato, was defeated by Barbora Straycova/Hsieh Su Wei in straight sets 5-7, 6-7 (4-7).
