Arsenal feasts on goals against Sheffield, Arteta mentions the impact of summer recruitment

Sheffield, Beritasatu.com – Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta opened his voice after his team's landslide 6-0 victory over hosts Sheffield United in the English Premier League, Tuesday (5/3/2024) early morning WIB. According to him, the presence of recruited players the Gunners at the end of last season have added a new dimension to the squad, and helped their teammates reach even higher levels.

Two players, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz, brought in from West Ham United and Chelsea in the summer, were among the scorers as Arsenal beat Sheffield at Bramall Lane.

The result means Arsenal have won their last seven league games, and are now third on 61 points, two points behind leaders Liverpool.

Asked whether the summer signings had helped Arsenal reach their best form at the right time, Arteta told reporters: “Yes, of course.”

“Obviously picking the right players who can bring something to the squad that we don't have, and they've certainly done that and improved every player, as well as the mechanisms and culture around the team. “They did that, but there is still the most important part of next season and we know that's what happened,” said Arteta.

The Spanish manager also provided the latest news regarding injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, who did not play the full 90 minutes. “Saka feels a little sick and we also have Fabio (Vieira) who we have to give minutes to,” said Arteta.

“We also had a little problem with Gabi Martinelli, he has a slight injury to his leg and we have to wait and see how he is,” he continued.

Arteta also added that Japan international Takehiro Tomiyasu is very close to returning to the team from a calf injury.

Arsenal will next host Brentford in the Premier League next Saturday.
